Ottawa, November 24, 2017 – on Monday, November 27, the Fairmont Château Laurier is hosting the 20th Anniversary edition of its signature fundraising event, Trees of Hope for CHEO. Since its inception in 1997, this event has grown into what many consider the ‘official kick off’ to the festive season in Ottawa. The Fairmont is always a very generous and gracious host. Corporate teams exercise their creativity and engage in friendly competition through the tree decorating portion of the evening, all while raising funds for the children and youth at CHEO. Categories for the tree decorating competition this year are: Frozen in Time to mark the event’s 20th anniversary and O Canada! in keeping with Canada 150 celebrations. The sparkling holiday trees are placed throughout the majestic castle and remain on display for all to enjoy.
During the holiday season, the Fairmont Château Laurier welcomes over 8,000 visitors who have a chance to cast a vote in the People’s Choice Awards through donation boxes until January 4, 2018. The corporate tree sponsorship fees and donations from the public through the People’s Choice Awards are combined with the proceeds from the auction and are donated directly to CHEO. Last year more than $108,000 was raised to help families that rely on care at CHEO.
The Trees of Hope Silent Auction and Lighting Ceremony offers over 150 auction items including a variety of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts experiences, spa packages, art, toys and so much more. There is also a raffle for high end prizes! Here’s how the night unfolds:
– Teams begin decorating their trees at 4:45 p.m.
– Tree Lighting Ceremony and Silent Auction begin at 6:30 p.m.
– Silent Auction wraps up and raffle draw winners announced at 8:00 p.m.
While this year’s event is full to capacity with both Corporate Tree entries and attendees, our friends in the media are still invited to cover the event.
