Volunteer Opportunities at the CHEO Foundation

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the CHEO Foundation!

One of the ways in which we make the best use of donations received is by harnessing the power of volunteers.  Their various expertise and life experiences help ensure the success of our fundraising events.

Of note, all new volunteers are asked to submit a Criminal Records Check or Police Records Check from their local police force. (Information on the Criminal Records Check or Police Record Check as well as a downloadable form can be found at the bottom of the page).

Here are some of the volunteer opportunities available at the CHEO Foundation:

Teddy Bears’ Picnic Volunteer (accepting volunteers NOW!)

The Teddy Bears’ Picnic has become a family tradition unlike any other as kids, parents, and grandparents alike all head to the Governor General’s residence at Rideau Hall for a day of family activities. Volunteers are needed on June 23, 2018 to help us thank the community for their unwavering support. Click here to volunteer.

RBC Race for the Kids (accepting volunteers NOW!)

September 16, 2018

The RBC Race for the Kids is a 5K and 10K all terrain walk/run event in support of youth mental health programs at CHEO. All of the closed courses make their way through beautiful Wesley Clover Parks – an innovative, four-season outdoor recreation and learning hub located in the National Capital Greenbelt that encircles the City of Ottawa.

Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the event of their choice. Routes available are 5K and 10K timed races or the fully accessible 2K Family Fun Run. Each registered participant will receive a t-shirt, a finisher’s medal and enjoy a healthy breakfast, entertainment and activities for people of all ages.

Various volunteer roles are available at RBC Race for the Kids. To learn more, visit https://rbcr4tkottawa.ca/

CHEO Bear (accepting volunteers NOW!)

This is a fun volunteer role for students! You can help put a smile on a child’s face by being CHEO Bear at CHEO Foundation events.  We are looking for kid friendly, fun loving personalities to entertain the crowds and take photos with kids!  And remember….CHEO Bear doesn’t talk; he gestures to communicate.  Volunteers are expected to work 1-3 hour shifts depending on the event. This is an ongoing volunteer role with different dates throughout the year, as required.

Apply to be CHEO Bear
